 Brent Fersner

A man attempted to rob the Quick Shop at 7675 Clinton Highway early Wednesday morning.  The clerk told detectives that the suspect came in wearing a camouflaged jacket with a white cloth on his head and threatened “to blow the clerk away” if he didn’t give him money.  The clerk said no, and the suspect left without incident.

Detectives identified the suspect as 21 year old Brent Fersner of Clinton Highway.  They tracked him down hours later and arrested him without incident and charged him with attempted robbery and public intoxication.  He is being held on a $4,500 bond.

Three Robbery Suspects Captured
Thursday, 10 September 2009

A man wanted for attempted first degree murder was one of three burglary suspects nabbed after a short pursuit by Knox County Sheriff’s Officers Thursday morning in North Knox County.  The three men were seen coming out of a house at 7340 Meadow Creek Trail by a neighbor around 10:30 who called in the tag number of the silver Crown Victoria to 911.  The car was spotted a few minutes later by a KCSO Warrants Officer on Clinton Highway who followed the car until patrol units arrived.  When the driver refused to stop, officers started a short pursuit which ended five minutes later on Oldham Avenue when the suspects’ car hit a curb and was pinned in by police.

The driver was apprehended, while two of the suspects made a run for it.  They were taken into custody a couple of minutes later.  A handgun was found near where they were arrested and another was found in the car.  Officers also found some of the property taken from the Meadow Creek Trail home in the car.

All are charged with aggravated burglary.  Other charges are pending.  One of the suspects, 19 year old Shaquan Andrews had outstanding warrants for attempted first degree murder, robbery, aggravated assault, and failure to appear on a weapons possession.  Twenty-three year old Demetrius Thomas has been convicted on drug charges, traffic violations, and criminal impersonation.  Eighteen year old Brian Cornelius does not have a criminal record in Knox County.

Detectives say the trio is responsible for multiple burglaries in the city and the county. Officers with the Knoxville Police Department assisted in the arrests.
