The School Police Unit was established in 1999, in response to a national trend of rising juvenile crime.  The officers in the School Police Unit work in conjunction with the Juvenile Task Force by developing intelligence and creating problem solving initiatives.  The officers at the schools also develop strategies for handling events such as a fire, bomb, hostage situation, or other life–threatening situation.
