The SWAT Team with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office placed in the top twenty in the World SWAT Challenge held last week in Little Rock, Arkansas.  KCSO was the only part-time team to place.  The team competed against full-time teams from law enforcement agencies in Dallas, Detroit, Chicago, and Taiwan just to name a few.

KCSO placed 16 overall.  During the five day competition, team members conducted SWAT exercises on a 2 and a half mile obstacle course, repelled, cleared buildings and various other activities such as sniper shooting and mobile vehicle assault.

Competing in the World SWAT Challenge is by invitation only.  Knox County Sheriff Jimmy “J.J” Jones said it was an honor for the team to compete.  “This was an excellent learning experience and gave the officers a chance to sharpen their skills to better serve the community.”
