Volunteers Honored Print E-mail

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office honored its volunteers at a luncheon Tuesday, April 29th at the Foundry.  There are 115 people working in a variety of volunteer jobs such as the Chaplain Corps, Senior Citizen’s Awareness Network, V.I.P.s, and the Explorers.  During 2007 alone, volunteers provided 20,407 hours of service.  The value of that service is estimated to be worth $358, 156.

Four people received the Lifetime Award which calls for 4,000 hours or more of volunteer service.  They are Chaplain Jerry Cox, Chaplain James Lawson, Myrna Rogers and J.R. Tilson.  They also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Celebrating ten years of volunteer service to the Sheriff’s Office are Charlie Beal, Bob Kuszynski, Ina Lima, Alex Marion, Art Pickle, Clay Reagan, Eula Tassey, Don Tyrell, Martha Walker, and Charlie Beal.

Those who provided 500 hours or more of service are Gary Cox, Bobby Crum, Bob Faulkner, Jim and Rosemarie Grubb, Jerry Reed and Carlos Rodriquez.

Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones said, “I am so proud of these volunteers and that they chose the Sheriff’s Office as a way to help serve their community.  I congratulate them and hope this recognition shows how much we appreciate them.”
