Thirty-eight year old James Allen Taylor is in the Knox
County Jail charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault
stemming from an incident Sunday night. Taylor shot his ex-wife’s boyfriend around 7:15

A man who Knox County Schools believed might be
misrepresenting himself as being from the school system may be a case of
mistaken identity. Knox County Sheriff’s Officers found the man last night and
determined that he is a legitimate book salesman out of College Station, Tex
Twenty one year old Ray Edward Loveday has been charged with
a murder dating back to 2006. Loveday is
accused of killing Ricky Tipton Thompson on September 4, 2006 in the Vestal
area of Maple and Eddington Streets.

Three people accused of robbing a Mascot bank last month
were arrested Wednesday in Walhalla, South Carolina. Thirty-three year old Eric
Bradley, 24 year old Joshua Douglas, and 25 year old Tina Rogers are charged
with aggravated robbery of the First Choice Community Credit Union on
Auditors from the American Correctional Association have
been evaluating the Knox County Detention Facility from May 28-30 and on Friday
issued their findings. The facility achieved 100% on the mandatory standards
and 99% on the non-mandatory standards. The auditors looked at

Twenty-three year old Vernon Nathaniel Monholland attempted to escape
custody Thursday morning after he was charged with violating his
probation in Criminal Court. Court Officer Terry Branson took custody
of Monholland and was processing his paperwork, when Monholland was
able to slip one hand from his cuffs and made a run for it. Branson
tackled him on the walkway outside the City County Building on the
first floor. Monholland got away again before being tackled by another
court officer, Tony Karnes, who got him back into custody.
Branson is being treated at Baptist Hospital for a broken wrist and a knee injury. Karnes suffered abrasions to his arms.
Monholland has been charged with 2 counts of simple assault, fleeing, and resisting arrest. Other charges are pending. He is being held without bond because he violated his probation for attempted aggravated burglary.
